Things I've Heard at Convention

From the Chaplain of the House of Deputies, the Rev. Frank Wade, Minnesota:

Christianity is a verb. It is a doing! Why do we call ourselves 'Followers of Jesus'? Because He is going somewhere!

Also from Chaplain Wade, quoting GK Chesterson:

Original sin is the only truly verifiable doctrine of the Church.

And again:

The only time Israel was without doubt was when they were creating the golden calf.

From a Deputy during the debate on D025 (about ordaining LBGT people):

In Columbus I stood before you, intending to ask that we vote down B033 (asking for restraint in the ordination of LGBT), and found myself asking that we approve it as a gift to our then Presiding Bishop Elect Katherine. Today I stand before you asking that we approve D025 as a gift to the church, in all our messiness; that we give ourselves in all our fullness to the Anglican Communion and to the Episcopal Church.
